Non-invasive ventilation

Ventilation with mouth-and-nose masks, full-face masks or ventilation helmets today is considered the standard treatment for exacerbated COPD or cardiac pulmonary edema. Many controlled studies, which ultimately were reflected in the S3 Guideline "Non-invasive ventilation in acute respiratory failure," have documented the current options, contexts and limitations of non-invasive ventilation. However, the growing success of this method in intensive care also increased the requirements for the associated medical technology. This includes dependable trigger detection, ensuring CO2 washout, comprehensive compensation of mask leakage as well as highly responsive measurement and control algorithms for safe intensive care ventilation.

Application areas of non-invasive ventilation:

  • Intensive care units
  • IMC
  • Emergency room
